Ultimate Pretzel Crusted Peanut Butter Cookie Candy Brownie Bars

Another Monday here. Gosh I hate Monday's! The nice thing about this Monday is that Connor did not have school today, so only one person in the house had a "Monday" today. Tomorrow Connor will have his "Monday" but at least mine will be over, so it shouldn't be to bad. Monday mornings are usually pretty hectic with trying to get ready for the week and then usually everyone is pretty crabby, so it's nice to have a "slower" paced Monday to start off my week.

So a few weeks ago for dinner at Aunt Missy's I made a dessert that I found off of Pinterest. The original recipe came from HERE and the moment I saw it I knew I had to make it. OMG. I have now dubbed this dessert "fat kid heaven". Not to offend anyone, I like to joke around and say that I eat like a fat kid because I love desserts, and if I let myself I would eat way to much all of the time. This is by far the best thing I have ever tasted. It has such a great combination of crunchy/salty and lots and lots of peanut butter (my favorite thing of all time). However, the downfall is the price of making this. I usually try to go fairly inexpensive when making things, but in order to really try this out I followed the name brands and everything. Next time I make it I'm going to try and go a little "cheaper" and make my own peanut butter cookies and maybe even brownies too. Hopefully it'll be just as good!

Trick or Treat

Ugh. I think I'm getting a cold, and I know exactly who to blame it on - Miss. Savannah! I've been sneezing like crazy today and now my nose is starting to turn red - fun stuff, just in time for Christmas pictures tomorrow. Going to try and not make it worse until at least after the pictures, lol.

So it's Halloween - yay! Gotta love getting tons of free candy! Not that me or my children really need any candy, but it's still fun. Savannah dressed up as a pink Dinosaur (not what I wanted her to pick, was really pushing for the cupcake or Little Red Riding Hood, but that's what she wanted, so that's what she got) and Connor dressed up as Thor. Both kids had a lot of fun going around with Buddy & Ella and all the rest of the gang for about an hour or so then we loaded up and headed to Waunakee to see John & Carol and do a little more trick or treating. Although it was pretty cold outside, I think the kids were dressed warm enough cause neither of them complained about being cold (they had 3 layers underneath their costumes). Well now that Halloween is done, onto the next holiday - Thanksgiving!

Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

Wow, what a crazy last week it's been. The kids have been sick on and off, which means horrible sleep, which means a super crabby Amber. Tonight they seemed pretty good, so I'm hoping this sickness is finally leaving this house! (crossing my fingers and toes)

So for breakfast yesterday & today I decided to try a new recipe off Pinterest (originally came from HERE) . I've been eating really crappy food lately, so I really need to get back in and focus on eating healthier. I love banana's and I love peanut butter, so what other better way to start the morning than a Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie! I followed the recipe exactly, except I used Vanilla Almond Milk. OMG, I think I've found my new signature breakfast. I didn't think it would keep me satisfied, but it filled me up and kept me going until lunchtime! I will definitely be making this again!

Zuppa Toscana Soup

Both kids are sick - not fun! Savannah got sick on Monday, so I ended up staying home with her that day. Tuesday she was well enough to go back to Grandma's, then today Connor started getting sick at 3 a.m. and Savannah got sick at about 7 p.m. Both have been fine since then so I'm hoping (cross fingers & toes) that they are both going to be done with this! I hate when my babies are sick but the worst is when you can tell they don't feel good because their eyes are all watered up, that was the look on Connor's face all day today.

So on Monday I decided to try a new recipe that I found on Pinterest. The original recipe came from HERE. The only thing I changed in the recipe was how I cooked it. Cooking things on high for only 3-4 hours in a crock pot really isn't an option for me, so I turned it on low at about 7:30ish a.m. I took the first bowl and ate out of it at about 3:30 and it stayed on till 5:00ish when everyone was done eating. I thought this tasted really good however I felt the kale seemed a little overcooked. The potato's and sausage seemed perfect, so if I were to make this again and it was an option, I'd probably throw the kale in about 1/2 way through instead of at the beginning. Either way, I'm sure I'll make this again! It's not quit as great as Olive Garden's soup (but maybe that's because I didn't have the yummy bread sticks to go with it), but it's definitely good enough to make again!

Meagan & Jeremy

Wow, I've been absolutely horrible at posting for the last several weeks. Just noticed that I only made 4 posts in September. There is so much that has happened, recipes I've tried, things I've done with the kids, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to catch up at this point. So maybe I'll just skip over the last couple of months and start over? Not sure, lol.

One thing that does stick out over the last several weeks is my awesome weekend with Meagan, Jeremy & all their wonderful friends & family (now which some are my friends :) ) I drove over to Michigan on Tuesday night and spent the night at Amanda's house. Wednesday I went to lunch with Jon and dinner with Amanda & Jarrod then met up with Meagan & Lauren to go out for her bachlorette party. We went to a karaoke bar and had an absolute blast, then went over to a friends house and played beer pong and got back to Meagan's mom's house at 4 a.m. Thursday was nails and rehearsal then Friday was the wedding. Got our hair done, took pictures then partied the night away! The wedding was beautiful they did a great job with it. Afterwards we even got to take a limo into GR and had a blast going to a few different places. I was so nervous about going to a wedding without a date but it was by far the most fun I've ever had a wedding. It was so much fun I really think they should do this for their anniversary every year (hint hint guys, lol).

The Hunger Games

What a good weekend. Good time with friends, old and new, and a great time with the kids today. So very thankful that the kids finally cooperated (after awhile) and we all took a nice nap this afternoon. Now I'm starting to make dinner and the kids are watching Monsters Inc.

So last weekend I finally had the chance to watch The Hunger Games movie. I loved the books and was really hoping I wouldn't be disappointed with the movie. I got it from The RedBox for free (gotta love finding coupon codes online) and watched it with a friend. Although there were obvious changes made from the book to the movie I believe they did a great job with it (unlike Water for Elephants - that was just to many changes, which ticks me off).  Now I can't wait to see the second one (just starting to record it if I remember correctly).

Chili Dog Casserole

So I've decided I'm going to start skipping around in the blog, instead of just going in order of things happening. Why? Because some of the things I forget how I felt about them (recipes, movies, books, etc) more easily than the really cool stuff that me & the kids do together. So in order to do a better "mini" review on things, I am giving myself the right to skip around once and awhile!

On that note, last night for dinner I made a Chili Dog Casserole. I originally found the recipe on Pinterest, which originated from THIS blog. Ingredients: 2-15oz cans of chili (I used one "normal" can of chili with beans and one can of spicy without beans), hot dogs (yes, I buy the $.79 ones at Woodmans cause I'm cheap, lol), tortillas, and cheese (I used a mix of Colby & cheddar). Okay, I know this definitely is not the most healthy thing I've ever made but on a lazy Sunday night it was just what I needed. With having the one can of spicy chili in there it gave the whole thing a nice little kick without being overbearing, so the kids could still eat it. Justin ended up coming over for dinner and I still have enough for 2 lunches (well 1 now since I ate one today). This recipe will be put in the "make again" category!

That's What I Am

Not much to report on the home front. Just getting use to the new schedule of everything - it's weird having so much time to myself. Most of the times I don't know what I should be doing. I know I should be cleaning the house more and probably working on homework but honestly I don't feel like doing it. Last night I watched a movie I haven't seen before and then talked to a friend on skype.

So a few weeks ago we picked up from the library That's What I Am. The main reason we picked it up was because of Randy Orton being in it (WWE wrestler that Connor really likes - and I think he's pretty nice to look :) ). I didn't really know what to expect from the movie but I really enjoyed it and recommend it to everyone. It's a great story about sticking up for yourself and others, even in the case when people believe something completely not true about you. I know most people probably haven't heard of this movie, but it's worth checking out.

Peanut Butter Dip

I know, I know. It's been FOREVER since I've posted. I'm sorry. There has just been a lot going on lately. But I will try to get things updated as quickly as I can. School started last week, and although I dropped one of my classes, I still have 2 fairly high demanding classes so don't hold it against me if I slack once and awhile!

So a few weeks ago I find a recipe on pinterest I knew I just had to try. The recipe originally came from HERE and I knew the kids would just love it and I was right! I also enjoyed it (but when don't I enjoy something with peanut butter in it?). It is such an easy quick dip to make for your kids to dip their fruit in and it is now something I will keep stocked in my house.

Generation's B-Day Party

It's Friday! Yay! So glad it's almost the weekend. With my allergies/cold this week has been pretty miserable. I'm feeling a little better today, but it's probably because I made Scott shut all the windows and turn the AC back on. We're suppose to be going to Lake Mill's tomorrow but I'm still not sure if I'm going to feel up to it or not yet, I'll wait until the last minute to make a decision.

So almost 2 weeks ago we all went down to the VFW for a Generation's B-Day Party. The party was celebrating several of Scott's family/friends. The party was mainly to celebrate GG's 80th B-Day, but then we also celebrated a 20th, several 50th, some 60th, and some 70th Birthday's too. It was a lot of fun but we did cut out before 8 p.m. so we could go enjoy a bonfire at Aunt Missy's (since this summer has been crazy and we haven't had a chance to go out there as much as usual).

The Leftovers

I can't believe summer is almost over with. I start my semester in 5 days and Connor starts school in 13 days. I can't believe I'm going to have a kindergartner in under 2 weeks! Where did the time go? We got all of his school supplies a couple of weeks ago now we just have to sharpen the pencils and we're good to go. I'm so hoping it'll go smoothly but I haven't a feeling this is going to be a huge adjustment for us.

So for this months book club, it was Jessica's turn to pick and so we read The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta. Overall we were all pretty torn on how we liked the book. A couple of people loved the book and a couple of people (myself included) seemed to not. I felt like there was way to many things left open that could have been addressed. Me & Sarah both felt it would have been more interesting if it would have focused more on the people who disappeared and how that happened. Either way it was a pretty decent book. It wouldn't be one of my first choices to recommend to someone but I wouldn't say not to read it, make sense?

Wild

What a weekend it was. Hope every one's weekend was better than my friend's. Can't believe it's Monday morning already, and of course it has to start out like crap. Connor was in a mood, I slept crappy, figures it's Monday, lol. Oh well, I guess the week can only get better!

So a few weeks ago I finished reading Wild by Cheryl Strayed. This is actually the first book I've read on my kindle! I "borrowed" a copy from the Library for 3 weeks but didn't end up needing it for that long. I enjoyed the book and her journey on the trail. The thing I feel it was missing was more details about after she got off the trail. The story is all about how she changed on the trail and it tells us eventually where she ends up but doesn't really specify how long it took her to get there. Was it something immediate? Otherwise it was a very interesting book and I'm glad I read it.

Billy & Candie's Wedding

Drama, drama, drama. Wow! Wont go into any details but my phone has been blowing up since yesterday at 7 a.m. I'm so glad we have unlimited texting now. I've only had the new phone for like 2.5 weeks and I've already sent over 2k text's. I know, it seems crazy, but someone told me their kid sends about 15k a month, so it doesn't seem as bad, lol.

So 2 weekends ago Billy & Candie got married! It's so nice to see people getting married who you know are each others soul mates. They are just so incredibly happy and it shows. Their wedding and reception were very nice (minus one very rude server). They had a photo booth, just like her sister, and I wish we would have thought of that. It's such a cute idea! We ended up giving them some awesome pampered chef mixing bowls (they love pampered chef from what I've heard) so I hope they love them! I wish them all the luck in the world and hope their honeymoon is awesome (they delayed it for a couple of weeks).

Egg and Cheese Puffs

So the kids had their final swimming lesson last night. Savannah ended up staying home with me though because she has a slight tummy ache. So far so good today, but I don't want to curse it by saying she's better yet. Connor was in his second round of Dolphin/Preschool-2 class and he still didn't pass. But it's okay, he made some great improvements. Last time he had half of the 20ish check list things that he needed to work on this time it was only 4.

So a couple of weeks ago for work we had a pot luck. I made some of my Chocolate Chip Zucchini Muffins but for Scott I decided to try a new recipe, so I went to allrecipes.com and found THIS recipe for Egg and Cheese Puffs. I followed the recipe exactly and they were a big hit. The recipe actually made several more than it stated it would so there where plenty of leftovers. I actually popped a small bagful in the freezer for later. Word of advise, use the metal liners for them. A bunch of people in the comments section said that without putting a liner they stuck really bad, so I used regular liners....and they still stuck really bad. A co-worker said to try the metal ones, so I'll do that next time I make these.

Christian Family Reunion

Poor little Savannah, I think she's kind of got an upset stomach. I'll spare the details, but it's not very fun! Hopefully she gets over it quickly, kids are usually pretty resilient. Last night of swimming lessons tonight for the summer. Can't believe summer is already winding down. They just go by way to quickly, don't they?

So a few weeks ago was the Christian Family Reunion. There's always a lot of people and this year there was a lot of great food and a fun bouncy house for the kids to play in. This is the first time I've gone in a few years - for some reason they kept sending the invite to Scott & Amanda, so I refused to go until they got it right, lol, well this year they got it right. A difference this year was a kids raffle. Each kid got a ticket, and 5 kids got money. Savannah got to pick the $20 prize, and Ella won! Unfortunately we didn't get to stay long because it was the same weekend as the Festival, but next year they've moved weekends so that shouldn't be a problem.

St. Dennis Festival

Another weekend coming to a close. Anyone do anything fun? Monday mornings always suck it seems.... and today was no exception to the rule. Direct TV called this morning say we owe $52 for a PPV from 2.5 years ago. WTF. Can they really charge for something so long ago? That doesn't seem right at all. What would have happened if we got a PPV every couple of months, there is no way we could afford a couple hundred dollar bill. Our bills were automatically paid so it's not something I kept that close of an eye on. Needless to say I'm ticked off about the whole situation, I cussed the guy out and he still he still had the guts to say that he hoped we could be customers again someday, um.... no way!

So it's been 2 weeks but I still wanted to write about the St. Dennis Festival. It's the annual festival that we do every summer, it's the church where we got married and both kids were baptized in. It's always a lot of fun. Lots to eat, drink, and games to play! Connor went to the treasure chest way to many times! And we played a ton of pop toss and filled our fridge up with Gatorade. Buddy & Connor both got their face painted and all of kids got balloon animals (none which lasted very long, lol - oh well!). It was a really fun weekend like always and now we get to count down until next year's festival!

Puppy Chow

So Scott & Matt went to go see the new Batman movie tonight, so it's just me and the kids at home. We played in the basement for awhile (while I tried to start organizing the disaster that it is) then we ran to Copps to get the kids some Popsicles, now the kids are watching Peter Pan and I just finished reading a book. Pretty uneventful Friday night, but it's nice.

So for camping I decided to make some Puppy Chow. I've never made Puppy Chow before, so I went to allrecipes.com and found THIS recipe. It made a lot more than I expected, I didn't follow the recipe exactly, I think I ended up putting a little bit more of everything into it but it turned out great. That's something I probably shouldn't make to often because I might just sit and eat the entire thing! Yumm! It is a great snack though to have while you're camping, so next time we're camping I'll be sure to make this again.

28 Day Bootcamp

Tuesday morning here. Not much to report. Worked out last night, started reading a new book for book club and had dinner at the in-laws. That pretty much sums up our Monday night. So far Tuesday is going pretty smoothly both kids seem to be in good moods, so hopefully that will continue. Both kids are running around playing while I drink my morning coffee and check a few things on the computer.

So recently I checked out from the Library Sparkpeoples: 28 Day Bootcamp. Unfortunately I only got to check it out for a week so I only used the video 4 times. The whole DVD is an 84 minute workout (way to long for me, since there's always so much going on) but it is neatly broken into smaller segments. The first night I did one of the 20 minute sections, then the second night I did a slightly longer section and the 3rd and 4th I started from the top and did the warm up and the first 2 - 12 minute sections. All are really great workouts but I think I sweat more by starting at the beginning and doing those first sections. Either way, whichever combination you decide to do you'll get your heart rate going. The biggest criticism I have is that they seem to go really fast doing the exercises. Sometimes it took me awhile to really figure out what they were doing. I wish they would have slowed some of those down so I didn't feel like I was moving at hyper speed. Overall, I would say this is more of an intermediate DVD (b/c of the speed) but it is one that I will check out from the library again.

Dane County Fair

Monday already. So glad I don't have school on Monday's anymore- well at least for another 3 weeks before I start up again. Did everyone have a good weekend? Yesterday was a pretty lazy day around here. Made 4 jars of Bread & Butter Pickles and wrapped a bunch of presents, that's about it.

A couple of weeks ago was the Dane County Fair. We've gone on Sunday the last couple of years but not always with the same people. This year we went with the Moore family and with Scott's parents. I got some sugar covered nuts (yum), the Moore's purchased some tastey chips, and Jim & Pat bought some yummy wine slush stuff. And of course Connor had to go win his "fishy" friend! We only ever stay a couple of hours but it's always a lot of fun. I really wanted to take one of the cute bunnies that I saw home! The animals were probably the kids favorite part.

Camping With The Moore's

So how is every one's Sunday going? We're going to be taking it very easy today: partially because Connor is in a "mood" and partially because we just need a lazy day. Our summer's are always so frantically busy that we don't get many days to "do nothing". So that's what we're going to do today. Going to play on the computer, read some books and maybe do some cleaning (but that's a big maybe, lol).

So a few weeks ago we went "camping" with Scott's sister's family & his parents. We waited to long to be able to get into any of the places that we wanted to, so we decided to save some money and camped in the back yard. Unfortunately Friday night Scott & I were super sick, so me and Savannah went home to sleep and Scott & Connor toughed it out in the tent. The big thing Saturday was the Aquatic Center but because of my swimmers ear from the previous weekend, I couldn't go, so Savannah and I went back home and took a good nap. Throughout the weekend there was a lot of yummy food to eat, we took a walk to Dairy Queen, and we also had some light saber duels in the backyard, lol. Other than being sick Friday night the weekend was a lot of fun.

The Balanced Mom

So as of last night I only have one more class left for my Accounting 1 class! Woho! On Thursday I have my chapter 8 & 9 test and then the final. I'm feeling fairly confident that I will finish the class with an A. I think I would have to seriously screw up on one of those tests to not get an A, and honestly I don't see that happening. But only time will tell!

So recently I finished reading The Balanced Mom by Bria Simpson. The concept of the book is good and some of the ideas in the book are really good but for me it seemed the first half of the book repeated it self almost every chapter just with a few different words added or subtracted. Also a lot of her suggestions cost money, which really isn't an option for some people. I guess I didn't really know what to expect from the book but it did not meet my expectations. It was quick read so if you pick it up it wont be a complete waste of your time but I wouldn't actively seek to read this book.

One Breath Away

So the Festival is this weekend (St. Dennis Festival), should be a lot of fun! I think this is the first !year where Connor really remembers what it's all about, so he's super excited. I made some chocolate chip zucchini muffins for the sweet tooth booth and we're going to try and find some stuff for the treasure chest (but since we waited until the last minute, I'm not sure if we will have time). Also can't wait until Sunday to pay my $5 to get a whole bag of books!

So recently I finished reading One Breath Away by Heather Gudenkauf. This is the third book she's written, and I've read all of her books now. This particular one just came out at the end of June and as soon as I could I put myself on the waiting list at the library. I was excited to read her new book and I was not disappointed. Her writing always draws me in and I always finish her books very quickly. With having children, this book definitely brings to mind my worst nightmare of sending my children to school. Thankfully all turns well with very little injury to anyone in the story. I can honestly say, for once, I did not guess who the villain was and was surprised at the end of the story. If you've read her other books and enjoyed them, definitely pick up her newest one! Now is the wait until she writes another one! I'm sure I'll read that one right away too!

Beyond The Sling

Last night I got some cleaning done. If you know me & Scott we're not much into deep cleaning. Mostly we do enough to get by without looking like complete pigs all the time. However, I would really like to try and keep my house cleaner than its current level but it's difficult to do because of the kids, school, and work. Last night I spent around 1.5 hours cleaning. I cleaned out the fridge completely and I started on our bathroom. I literally took everything out of the bathroom (drawers, shelves, etc) and working on cleaning it and organizing and throwing stuff out. Couldn't finish it all last night but I should be able to tonight.

So about a week and a half ago I finished reading Beyond The Sling by Mayim Bialik. I've been meaning to read this book for awhile and had actually gotten it once before from the Library but at that time I just didn't have enough time to actually sit down and read it. I'm glad I finally got to read it. It reads very easily (read it in only a few days) and briefly touches on all aspects of Attachment Parenting. I follow some of the "rules" of attachment parenting but there are areas I do not. Even if you think attachment parenting is "crazy" I recommend you reading this book to get a good idea on what it's all about. It's really not all that "crazy" it's more about listening to yourself and trusting your instincts that you know how to parent your children. I'm really glad she has a reference section in the back of the book so I can get some more books on a couple of the subjects since within the length of the book she truly could not go into a huge amount of detail.

Donovan Turns 5

So I took Test #4 last night for my Accounting class. I'm not nearly as confident with this test as the last 3. I know I still passed, and to other people's standards I probably still did good, but I'm not sure I'll get to say for the 4th time that I received over 100% on it. Why the need for such high grades? Because, I've figured out if I receive all A's in my final classes at MATC I will graduate with honors, with over a 3.75 in the classes that count towards my degree. And I really want to graduate with honors!

So a little over a week ago now, while we were camping, we had to take a time out and drive back into Madison for Donovan's 5th Birthday party. Unfortunately we weren't able to stay for very long but I'm still glad we showed up for a little while at least. For his birthday we gave him a new sweatshirt that he should be able to wear for school this coming year and also one of those big Car's color, construct things that get super big. I hope he has a lot of fun putting that all together. I hope his birthday was fabulous and he received everything his five year old heart desired.

Camping in Lodi

So this weekend is almost at an end. In same ways I'm so glad that it's finally over (sickness is never fun). In other ways I wish it wasn't almost done (test tomorrow night, yuck!). Scott & the kids are about to watch a movie in the living room and we're waiting for our dinner to arrive (Glass Nickel - yumm!). It's been quit the exhausting weekend and neither of us wanted to attempt to make dinner.

So last weekend with John & Carol we headed up north to Lodi to go camping at Smokey Hollow campground. OMG - it was a blast! They had a man made pond that was so much fun to play in. They had multiple different inflatable things to play on - several slides, a trampoline, etc. Connor kept track and he went swimming 6 times (Friday, 4x Saturday, and Sunday). Their little store had some yummy ice cream, slushies and some iced coffee and the campgrounds overall were pretty nice. So between swimming, and playing at the playground (right outside our camper - well Aunt Lori & Kari's camper that they let us borrow) we kept very busy. This is a place I would definitely consider going to again.

Fifty Shades - Series

Back from a day full of "camping" at the Moore's house. Had a lot of fun today, and after being so sick last night, I felt so much better! Also, my ear is doing a lot better too. I've only had to take Tylenol once today, where as the last couple of days I couldn't go more than about 5 hours without taking more, so that's a good sign!

So recently I finished reading the whole series of Fifty Shades by EL James. I read all 3 of the books in a little over a week, so I obviously enjoyed reading them. I really enjoyed the characters and I'm glad the entire book didn't 100% focus on the "adult scenes". From the way people were talking about it I thought it would be too over whelming and I wouldn't enjoy them, but I did. It's definitely not a type of book I would normally read but the characters kept my interest enough to finish out the entire series. Have any of you read the series? What did you think?

Connor's B-Day Party

So I went to the Dr. and it was exactly what I thought it was (swimmers ear). I wish they would have just given me the prescription instead of making me pay the $25 co-pay and them telling me exactly what I knew it was already. Oh well I guess, not much you can do about that. I just hope these drops work quickly and I wont have to wake up tonight in pain again.

Almost 2 weeks ago now we had Connor's 5th birthday party. We had it out at Grandma & Grandpa's house in Waunakee and it was a blast. They got Connor a bouncy house (so fun!) and we filled up a bunch of balloons, had a sprinkler and squirt guns. The theme for his party was WWE (of course) and a bunch of family showed up to celebrate. He got some star wars movies, a bunch of wrestling stuff, some spider man Lego's, a cars toy and a bunch of other stuff. Man, his he spoiled! Can't believe my baby is 5 years old!!

4th of July

I now officially only have 25% left of my Accounting 1 class left! Woho! The end is near! Can't wait for it to be done with! I then will get a couple of week break and then my Accounting 2 and Corporate Finance classes start at the end of the month. Less than 10 months now until I graduate with my AAS in Business Management.

For the fourth of July we usually go to DeForest and watch the parade and sometimes go and walk around the park afterwards, not this year. It was so hot (100+ degrees) we decided to go up north to Devil's Lake for a day of swimming. The lake felt amazing and it was nice to get some sun. We went up with John & Carol and then Kari, Lori, Helen, Hanna and her friend joined us later.

Water for Elephants - Movie

So I need to officially get into lose weight mode for Meagan's wedding, which is only around 70 days away (I counted the actual number of days yesterday but I don't remember, lol). I worked out last night using the 28 Day Boot camp Spark People DVD (picked it up from the library). It has a total of 84 minutes on it but it's broken into different categories, so I just did one of the 20 minutes last night since its been about 5 weeks since I've worked out. After weighing myself this morning I would LOVE to lose 13.6 pounds before Meagan's wedding. Not sure if that's possible or not, but I'll give it a go!

So for book club this past month we read Water for Elephants. Scott "read" it along with me and afterwards we decided to pick up the movie from the library and watch it. Okay. Initially after watching the movie I did not like. I thought about it later and realized it wasn't as bad as I originally thought. The movie was good but there were so many big changes from the book that it initially through me off and I was a little pissed off about it. They combine characters and completely leave some out all together. So my advice: either watch it way after you finish the book or before you even read it. If you watch it right after you read it like I did your initial reaction might be you don't like it.

Lily is 3

Just re-financed the house this morning! Saves us about $115 a month! Yes, we should be down to 25 years on our mortgage by now but honestly I'll take the additional 5 years because it means the payments are much more manageable than before. I wish our appraisal would have been better, then we could have saved even more (stupid PMI) but oh well I guess. You get what you can take!

So at the beginning of the month my cousin Katie's little girl, Lily, turned 3 years old. I can't believe how big she's getting. She's so funny! She had a Dora party and had lots of family there to celebrate with her. I wish we could have stayed longer but it was on Connor's birthday and we had already made plans for dinner. We gave her some clothes and a cute Tinkerbell tent - which she didn't want to get out of! So I'm guessing she liked it, lol. I hope the rest of her party was just as fabulous as her and her actual birthday was a lot of fun also!

Connor's 5

So another weekend has come and gone. Can you believe summer is 1/2 over now? It is just going by way to quickly! It's going to be really hot again today and tomorrow, just about 100 degrees both days. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the hottest summer in Wisconsin history. I don't even remember the last day that the high was below 80 degrees.

So just over 2 weeks ago my baby turned 5 years old. I just can't believe how quickly the time has gone by! For his birthday we went to Portrait Innovations to get his pictures taken, then we headed to the zoo (every year at the zoo he gets to pick one present from the gift shop - this year he opted for a Prairie Dog) and for dinner he decided he wanted to go to Home Town Buffet so he could have unlimited slushies! Afterwards we headed back to the house for cake & presents. He received some awesome wrestling clothes, wrestling toys, a light saber & Darth Vader mask and some other really great things. Now my "big boy" is 5 and is already on his way to 6. Can time just stop for a little while?

Her Last Death

Going camping this weekend. At least this will take my mind off of my test #3 that I took last night. I think I did well but I always question it until I see that score posted - which wont happen until Sunday night or Monday morning probably. I know that it wont be posted until then but that doesn't mean I still haven't checked several times today to see if it's been posted, lol.

On my birthday I finished reading Her Last Death by Susanna Sonnenberg. I enjoyed the story and thought it funny and outrageous at times but I really have a hard time believing that that stuff really happened to her growing up. It's just so ridiculous and horrible at times that it almost feels made up. As long as I pictured it as not-real I enjoyed the story and it was pretty quick read. Since then I've read several other books that I will post about, but currently I am finally reading "Beyond The Sling."

My Birthday

I've been really slacking in the month of July at posting. Between work, school, reading a couple of books and taking care of the kids I haven't had a lot of time to sit down and write up a post. I can't promise to find more time to write. This summer still have lots of events left and I have a stack of books I want to read, and I'm only just over 50% done with my Accounting 1 class.

So about 2 weeks ago was my birthday. I can't believe how the years are just flying by. Aren't they suppose to be slow until you're older? Have I already reached the age where some of the years blur together and I'm not sure if it was this year or the previous when such and such happened? Ugh. I don't want to think about that right now. My birthday was pretty nice. We went to Lake Mills to go swimming, picked up some Subway on the way. Then went home and took a nap (I love naps if you didn't know that already). For dinner we went to the Great Dane and afterwards came back to the house for cake & presents. I received a Kindle Fire (which I love but still haven't actually read a book on it), some clothes, floor mats for my car (still have to clean it out so I can put them in), a new blender (really needed that) and a gift card to Boston Store (where I get my makeup). All in all I can't complain it was a nice birthday and I'm still glad I continue to take the day off of work each year.

Couple's Retreat

Back to another Monday. I am officially 1/2 way done with my Accounting 1 class this summer, and I've still got over a 100%. Not sure how long that is going to last, I have another test coming up this Thursday that I'm not nearly as confident as the last two. At least I have some time to try and figure a couple of the things out.

A couple of week's ago Scott & I sat down and watched Couple's Retreat. It's a few years old but we never had a chance to watch it until now. Not that I was missing anything without watching it. The movie was okay and there were parts that I laughed at but it's nothing that I would have to sit down and watch again. If it's on TV sometime and there is nothing else to watch I'd probably watch it but it is not a movie I will go out of my way to watch again.

Devil's Lake

Got the grade back from my second Accounting 1 test - 105%! Man, maybe I should have stuck with Accounting as my degree, lol, oh well, to close to graduating to change now! Not sure I'll continue to get over 100% on the tests, because the stuff he introduced last night was a little confusing.............

So almost 2 weeks ago we headed up north to Devil's Lake with the Moore's, Scott's parent's & Betty. It was a lot of fun but it was actually a little chilly out (which is funny to say considering it wasn't even 2 weeks ago, and we're on day #3 of 100 degree weather). It was a lot of fun though, Scott & I swam with all four kids and then we had a super yummy lunch! It's always nice going there, for $7 you can't really beat that!

Water For Elephants

Lazy Sunday around here. Read a book, slept in late had a nap, great day in my mind. However, I didn't go to the grocery store, so we'll be scrapping by the next couple of days until I can get there on Tuesday or Wednesday. Oh well, it was worth it. Today was the only day in the month of July that I didn't have anything written on the calender!

So for this month's book club we decided to read Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen (we'll be meeting to discuss next Friday). It was a very quick read and I really enjoyed reading it. While reading it I could totally picture the movie, and I hope when I see it I wont be disappointed by it. The only part of the book that I did not like was the part with Walter & Camel. I really wish that would have turned out a little differently. Scott actually was "reading" (he gets the CD's and listens to it on the way to and from work - he's not much of a reader) it at the same time, so it was kind of fun to discuss and give eachother little hints about what was going to happen next.

Blackened Fish Salad

So tomorrow my baby turns 5 years old. Where on earth did the time go? I might cry tomorrow....... We're doing the usual birthday tradition, pictues, zoo, dinner, and we also have to run out to Aunt Missy's to celebrate Lily's Birthday (Monday is her actual birthday).

Working my way through my favorite cookbook, on page 59 of Taste of Home: Simple & Delicious is the recipe called Blackened Fish Salad. Ingredients: cajun blackened grilled fish fillets, deli pasta, baby spinach, and parmesan cheese. We used THIS pasta salad (my all time favorite!!!) and we actually forgot to put the parmesan cheese onto it (didn't realize until a couple of days later when we were having spaghetti and Scott went to use it and it hadn't been opened yet, oops!). I really enjoyed this recipe but unfortunately no one else in the house did. Scott isn't a big fan of the fish, and the kids devoured the pasta part of it they barley touched the rest of it. I hope I can convince them to make this again, but I might not be able too.

Father's Day

So I was super excited to find out that I received a 104% on my Accounting 1 test, until I went to class last night and realized a perfect on the test would have resulted in a 105%, doh! I lost 4-1/4 points on something dumb. Not that I didn't deserve to loose that point, but I shouldn't have put down the wrong page reference number. Oh well I guess, I have a perfect on everything else I've turned in so my overall grade is still over 100%. I am now 5/16 of the way done with this class!

So a little over a week ago was Father's Day. Scott received from us: 2 Angry Bird Shirts, and 1 Fruit Ninja Shirt (Scott loves novelty t-shirts and I have to start replacing all of his old ones because the Larges look like they fit Scott, but they don't. After you wash them once or twice they end up being way to short), we also cooked a nice dinner on Saturday night, and also there is a promise to get a new cell phone for him (and me) when we have time to go get it done.  That morning we woke up and went to breakfast at the VFW with Scott's family and then we headed to the zoo with them. We walked around for awhile and then had a nice picnic lunch right outside. Then the kids got to play on the playground for awhile then we headed home for a nap. For dinner we were going to go to Aunt Missy's but she text to cancel so instead we went over to the Moore's house and ordered Glass Nickel - yumm! I love their stuff and could eat there almost every day, but it's a little pricey to do that and I would get super fat, lol. I hope all the Daddy's out there had a wonderful day.

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest

So yesterday John & Don came over to the house to do a majority of the trim work for our flooring. We wanted to finish that up before the appraiser comes to the house on Friday (we're re-financing). They did get most of it completed, just a few little pieces here and there that need to get completed. So glad we got that taken care of, we really appreciate all their hard work!

So recently I finished the third and final book in the series, "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest" by Stieg Larsson. Wow. What a series! I really enjoyed reading the entire series and liked how he finished everything. Like the other two books there is a lot of background information, which some of it I lost track of and couldn't keep straight, but overall the stories flowed very smoothly and kept my interest. I really can't wait until they come out with the other movies, it'll be interesting to see how closely they follow the storyline.

The Story For Little Ones

So after checking a bazillion times on Friday and Saturday my instructor finally posted my grade for the test at 12:33 a.m. this morning. And, guess what? 104%!! LOL! Didn't even realize you could get over a 100%. The only thing I can think of is he curved it slightly and added extra points onto everyone scores? Not sure, wont know until tomorrow night, but I'm happy!

So recently we finished reading "The Story For Little Ones". I'm so happy we stumbled upon this when visiting Crosspointe Community Church in Michigan. The chapters are perfect size to read to the kids, and actually we would read it twice, just to make sure Connor heard most of it, and then we'd ask him what happened in the chapter. We're not a very religious family, and only attend church once in a great while, but I do what my children to have some sort of basic knowledge in religion and when they're older they can choose for themselves.

Nacho Chicken Pitas

What better way to spend a Saturday night then cleaning the house? Right? Lol! That's exactly what we're doing. Cleaning for 10 minutes, breaking for 10 minutes. You'd be surprised at how much you can get done in 10 minutes. Neither Scott or I are very good at keeping the house clean, so in order for us to get anything done we have to take it in brief periods.

So we're slowly working through my favorite cookbook "Taste of Home: Simple & Delicious". This time we tried Nacho Chicken Pitas on page 48. Ingredients: Egg, Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips, Chicken Breasts, Mayo (not on mine), Pita Bread, Lettuce (right out of the garden!), Tomato, and Mozzarella Cheese. OMG, this tasted so good! I absolutely loved it. The pita bread however was hard to work with, it didn't seem like I could get very much inside of it. I think next time I'll take the same basic ingredients but make it more into a salad. I really do not like Nacho Tortilla Chips, but the way it was used for breading on the chicken was so yummy!

4k Graduate

So I took my first Accounting 1 test on Thursday, and he said he would probably have the grades up on Saturday night.......... I still checked several times yesterday, and have checked several times already today. I really hope he gets those grades up soon, I really think I got an A and would like conformation that I did!

I know its been a couple of weeks, but I wanted to post Connor's super cute 4k Graduation Picture. They had a little ceremony, sang 2 songs, handed out their diplomas and then we got to eat some snacks and play outside for awhile. Not very long (a co-workers was 2 hours long........can't imagine what they would do for 2 hours, lol) but at least it was something (a friend of mines didn't have a ceremony for 4k). It was a lot of fun and I'll miss all of his little friends that I knew all by name. Most of the kids he will never see again, he will see a couple at his birthday party and maybe he'll stay in touch with one or two though out the year - I really hope him and his bff Matthew will stay in touch, but it will be hard since they wont be going to the same school next year. Can't believe my baby will start kindergarten in September!!

18 Month Check Up

So the kids and Scott are outside playing, and I'm taking a little "quiet time", which consists of folding laundry and making this quick post. Sound like fun? Yes, and no - I'd rather be outside playing, but I know I need some quiet time, so it's relaxing. I'm also going to try to dye my hair tonight, but I'm not sure I will have time - we'll see!

Earlier this month Savannah had her 18 month check up and she's perfect, like always. She is still slightly delayed in her speech but she's very advanced in her small & large motor skills and problem solving, and since kids develop at such different rates, she's just fine. Her biggest problem is she wont sit still long enough to learn new words and when she does finally say a new word she will only say it once, if you keep asking her to say it she wont (she said Ella the other day, clear as day, but only once, lol  - stubborn!). She is 32.25 inches tall (62.3% on the WHO chart) and 20lbs11oz (24.7% on the WHO chart). So although she is tall & skinny, she is definitely staying on the same growth line. However, if you look at the dumb CDC chart she's only 5.65% for weight. I'm not sure why they still have that chart out there, it's invalid and makes parents worry. It took me a long time to figure out that the WHO chart more accurately reflects Savannah's growth and the CDC chart is outdated and I can ignore it.

Blinds

Hey, do any of you play the Monopoly game at Copps? We do, even though the majority of our groceries are purchased at Woodman's once and awhile we pick up a few things at Copps since it's a lot closer (which wont happen in the fall when the new Woodman's opens, yay!!) Anyways, Scott stopped last night for a few things and I was just getting around to looking at the game pieces, and we won a $100 Grocery Gift Card, yay! That's definitely useful right now with all the food we'll have to purchase for Connor's B-Day party!

So while we were re-doing our floors I decided to finally pull down all of our blinds in our kitchen. They were old and disgusting, and Savannah got a kick out of pulling out parts of the blinds, so finally I had enough and tore them down. Then after looking around, I realized our sliding glass door needed something new too. It was old, and had those metal pieces in the bottom to weigh it down - which the kids played with and most of them were now missing. So approximately $250 later we had new cloth, cordless blinds for our 5 windows in the kitchen and a new cordless brown covering for our sliding door! We got them all at Menard's and as always we were very happy with our experience. It looks TONS better!! I'm so happy we finally did it. Now we just have the bedroom windows to re-do!

Matt's B-Day

OMG, watching the SYFY channel, and it's a show and I think it's called Insane or Inspired. Not sure, but holy crap it's funny, lol. Sitting here crying because I'm laughing so hard. If you're reading this now and have that channel, go check it out!

So almost 2 weeks ago we went over to the Moore house to celebrate Matt's 32nd Birthday. We had a cookout and the kids got to play with a mini pool and a water table. For his birthday we got Matt the movie Suckerpunch, some spices from Milford spices and also a Detroit Tiger cooler. We also got to enjoy some yummy DQ ice cream cake! I hope his birthday was nice and relaxing and he had a good day!

AJ Turns 2

Okay, last post of the night. It's after 10:30, and I'm getting pretty tired. I went to bed late last night and today at work was just "one of those days". Did I ever mention that Connor signed up for Tennis Camp this summer? I gave him the option between Basketball, Wrestling & Tennis, and he chose Tennis. And guess what? I received an e-mail today stating the class is cancelled because there was no instructor available. WTF, I'm a little ticked off..... now I have to try and convince Connor to do Basketball Or Wrestling camp because I really want him to try something new this summer.

Almost 2 weeks ago we headed out to Marshall to Celebrate AJ's 2nd Birthday! I really can't believe that this little guy is 2, which means before we know it Savannah will be 2! Craziness!! The Browne family parties are always fun with good food and yummy cake. For his birthday we gave AJ a pair of shorts and a matchbox truck. A really cool birthday surprise he received was getting to take a lap around the block in a real racecar, and all the kids got to climb in and sit in it too! I hope his birthday was amazing, even though he wont remember it when he is older, but I hope he'll be able to tell from all the pictures how much he is loved!

18 Months Old

I'm so hungry!! Ahhh! But I REFUSE to eat this late at night! So I'll just have to sit here and ignore my rumbling stomach. I could go to bed, but what fun would that be? Then I wouldn't be able to  post several posts tonight (this being #3, and this will either be my last or second to last for the night, we'll see!)

So almost 2 weeks ago, June 1st, Miss. Savannah turned 18 months old. Where did the time go? She is finally starting to say a few words here and there (but only when she wants to, if you ask her to, she wont do it). She's also learned how to climb on everything (more so than before, if that's even possible!) and nothing is out of reach to her. If she can't reach it, she'll figure out a way to move something to get what she wants. She is just the funniest little person, who just has way to much personality for her size, which is exactly why I call her Tink (Tinkerbell - little with attitude). Also to note, I finally upgraded her to size 18 month clothing! Thank you Katie for providing us with so many cute Lily clothes! I love this little "naughty" girl and can't imagine my life without her.
