Connor's 5

So another weekend has come and gone. Can you believe summer is 1/2 over now? It is just going by way to quickly! It's going to be really hot again today and tomorrow, just about 100 degrees both days. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the hottest summer in Wisconsin history. I don't even remember the last day that the high was below 80 degrees.

So just over 2 weeks ago my baby turned 5 years old. I just can't believe how quickly the time has gone by! For his birthday we went to Portrait Innovations to get his pictures taken, then we headed to the zoo (every year at the zoo he gets to pick one present from the gift shop - this year he opted for a Prairie Dog) and for dinner he decided he wanted to go to Home Town Buffet so he could have unlimited slushies! Afterwards we headed back to the house for cake & presents. He received some awesome wrestling clothes, wrestling toys, a light saber & Darth Vader mask and some other really great things. Now my "big boy" is 5 and is already on his way to 6. Can time just stop for a little while?

4k Graduate

So I took my first Accounting 1 test on Thursday, and he said he would probably have the grades up on Saturday night.......... I still checked several times yesterday, and have checked several times already today. I really hope he gets those grades up soon, I really think I got an A and would like conformation that I did!

I know its been a couple of weeks, but I wanted to post Connor's super cute 4k Graduation Picture. They had a little ceremony, sang 2 songs, handed out their diplomas and then we got to eat some snacks and play outside for awhile. Not very long (a co-workers was 2 hours long........can't imagine what they would do for 2 hours, lol) but at least it was something (a friend of mines didn't have a ceremony for 4k). It was a lot of fun and I'll miss all of his little friends that I knew all by name. Most of the kids he will never see again, he will see a couple at his birthday party and maybe he'll stay in touch with one or two though out the year - I really hope him and his bff Matthew will stay in touch, but it will be hard since they wont be going to the same school next year. Can't believe my baby will start kindergarten in September!!

Shaving Cream

So the boys went to the Elimination Chamber last night (with Chrissy/Scott's Sister, and Jim/Scott's Dad), they didn't get home until almost midnight so Connor got to miss his 2nd day of school for the year. It's kind of nice having Scott home in the morning, I'm more motivated in the morning so I'm getting more stuff done that needed to be done!

So last weekend we took the advice of some friends and bought some Shaving Cream for Connor to play with. Cheap Entertainment is always a plus and this definitely was worth the $1 I got it for at the Dollar Store. Connor had a blast playing with it and of course I didn't care if he made a huge mess, so he did. He had a lot of fun drawing letters and we practiced some numbers and then by the end of it Connor was just having fun putting it all over himself, lol. He's already asking when we can do it again, which will probably be soon!

2nd Degree Orange Belt

So last night sometime a nasty cold decided to slap me in the face. What a wonderful feeling, yuck! To bad I don't have time to be sick and there is lots to do around here! Gotta finish a bunch of homework, need to go to the grocery store before the Super Bowl, and sometime I have to find time to clean my room because we have someone coming over tomorrow night to measure the carpeting in our room!

So on Scott's Birthday, Connor received his 2nd Degree Orange Belt! He started before all the other kids he's currently doing karate with, so he's the only one with the 2nd degree. All the other kids received their orange belts the day before. They were nice enough to wait to give Connor his 2nd degree for when I could see it. I had missed when he originally got his orange belt, so I really wanted to see this. He's doing really good with karate, and I know he enjoys it because he makes me play karate with him sometimes at night. Currently we're only signed up to go to April 1st, but I'm hoping we can just add on another 2 months and go to June 1st, then we'll take the summer off because we'll be busy with swim lessons and I really want to sign him up for T-Ball!

Gingerbread House

Wow, I kind have been slacking on the blog front! Oops! Just a lot going on I guess. School started this week which always adds extra stress, plus I've been working out almost every day and just overall trying to spend more time with the family. Plus the laptop is still broken so it's kind of a pain in the butt *and cold* to sit in the basement.

So Thursday I got to go to Connor's school and help him make a Gingerbread House. I was only there for about an hour but it's always fun to see Connor with his classmates and all the other parents. It makes me feel sad that some of the kids parents couldn't come but sometimes work wont allow you to take off and there are other obligations. One kids Aunt came, which I thought was a great idea. If a parent can't come why not send someone in their place? I know there will always be a kid whose family doesn't come and there are obviously circumstances beyond any ones control that prevents their family from coming but it always makes me sad when they don't. Anyways, it was a lot of fun and on Friday after dinner we ate it! Yum!

Orange Belt

So the Fall semester is just about 1/2 way done. I have my 2nd of 4 tests in my Employment Law class due on Saturday night. I currently have an A, so I hope to continue. I've had 3/7 Marketing Assignments done, and currently holding an A down in that as well. I think I figured out if I pretty much get all A's in my remaining classes and retake my Psychology class and get at least a B in it, I'll graduate with honors! (3.75 or higher :) ) Scott has his final in his Windows 7 class due on Friday, and I think he will get at least a B if not an AB or A! Then next week he starts his PowerPoint Class.

So yesterday at Karate Connor upgrade from the white belt (what you get when you first start) to his orange belt. Scott said he could barley see the "ceremony" because right now the Park & Rec program in Sun Prairie has a class going on, so there is like a dozen kids in Connor's Karate classes during the week. But it's super exciting! I wish they would have given it to him on Saturday so I could see it, but I guess they probably wanted to do it in front of as many kids as possible. He's been going for about 2 months and most weeks he goes 3 times a week, so yay! I'm super excited. The price is so much more worth it than gymnastics was. Not that gymnastics wasn't fun for Connor, but for $10 more a month he gets 2 extra classes a week, and I think Karate will end up being a very good thing for Connor. Oh, and FYI he goes to Karate America, don't know if I mentioned that before or not. I highly recommend them if you are interested in enrolling your kids!

Fall Festival

Way to go Cardinals!! World Series Baby!! So glad they made it, sorry Brewers, not your year! I'm so glad we got to go to one of the games (even though it was one they lost). You just can't mess with the Cardinals!! WOHO!! Now time to kick Texas butt in the World Series!

So Friday was Connor's Fall Festival at school. The parents were invited to come watch the kids paint pumpkins, decorate cookies & play outside for awhile. Unfortunately it was pretty windy so I was a little miserable standing around, but it was fun to see all the kids. It was fun being able to put faces to names that Connor has mentioned. We now have a wonderfully painted pumpkin sitting on our front steps!

Off To School He Goes

So I'm happy to report Savannah had a new "1st" tonight! She pulled up to standing all by herself at Grandmas house - twice! Chrissy was a witness to this, so I'm not crazy, even if she doesn't do it again for awhile, we know she can! It's just a matter of time now before we have another "1st" - crawling! She's so ridiculously close it really could happen any day now, but if she's like her brother it'll still be awhile.....only time will tell!

So Connor had his 1st day of school today! Exciting and sad at the same time! Exciting that my little boy is going to be learning and making new friends, but sad that he's growing up way to fast! Scott & I both had the day off to celebrate the occasion. We made him breakfast, got him dressed and out the door we went. He's going to school at Play Haven, which is one of the day cares in the area, and he goes from 8:15-10:50. The bus was just getting there when we got there, so we waited for all of those kids to go inside, then we went inside and walked him downstairs to the 4k hallway. He has his own cubby where he put his backpack then we went into his room where all the kids wash their hands first. After that we looked around a little bit, had him find his picture on the wall and "check" in (putting his picture in the "whose at school today" column on the wall). Then we gave him a hug and we left. There were a few tears in his eyes and ours as well but we tried not to show them but other than that he did amazing. I was expecting him to throw a fit and refuse to let us leave, but that didn't happen. While he was at school Scott & I went and I donated blood then we went to pick him up. I'm happy to report that Connor was a good helper (do I see a brown nosier in the future??) and he did really well, about 5-10 minutes before it was time to leave he did go up to his teacher and hugged her legs and said I'm ready for my mommy now. So a good first day. I really hope he enjoys school and makes lots of friends - he has no choice, he's going to college! He's not going to still be in college when he's 50 (which will more than likely happen with me, lol)

Preschool 2 Here We Come

A lazy Sunday today. We spent most of the morning just relaxing around the house, and now it's after 1 p.m. we're finally going to make lunch & then head out and buy Connor's school supplies. We have an open house on Wednesday to see the school & meet his teachers, and we have to bring the school supplies with us. Thankfully we didn't buy the supplies ahead of time because the list on the website is different then the list we received in the mail this week.

So this past Tuesday was Connor's last swimming lesson of the summer, and guess what? He passed! After 3 sessions of being in Preschool 1 he can finally move onto Preschool 2 next summer! Next summer I'll probably just sign him up for Preschool 2 twice because it seems a lot more difficult than Preschool 1, and it's hard to imagine that he'll pass the first time considering it took him 3 times for this part of it........we'll see I guess.

My Big 4 Year Old

So our camping weekend is over (will post more later about that), thank goodness cause the heat has rolled in. This week is going to be super warm, mid to upper 90's, with the heat index well over 100. This is going to be a week that I'll be glad to be at work where I'll be in the AC all day! Gotta make sure to keep my garden nice and watered also!

So last Monday Connor had his annual check-up, other than the shots that he had to have (at least he's done until he's 11 now), everything went well. He's growing amazing and getting so big so fast! The Dr. is even amazed by the fact he can do everything with both hands (could come in handy later on if he decides he likes baseball!). At 3 years old, Connor was 33lbs and 39 inches, well in the next year he grew 4lbs12oz (37lbs12oz) and 2.75 inches (41.75 inches). He is officially 65.68% for weight and 81.18% for height!

Swimming Lessons

So far so good this week with the 30 Day Shred. I finished Day 18 last night, and if I continue every night I'll finish with it on June 25th, right before my birthday, which was my goal. So hopefully I can find the energy to pry my butt off this couch so I can get Day 19 done!

So tonight was the beginning of Swimming Lessons for both kids. Connor did such an amazing job. If you remember from last summer he ended up failing Preschool 1, which was to be expected, considering it was the first time he had ever been in a pool without Scott or I. But he is doing noticeably better which is good considering we signed him up for Preschool 2 classes for the second 1/2 of the summer. Savannah did awesome as well. She only wined a couple of times, but it was kind of cold, so I don't blame her. Scott took 1 close up picture of Savannah, but her eyes ended up being closed.....I'll take better ones next time.

6 Months

So Connor's Gymnastics was officially done last Wednesday, but we have a fun night tonight. They tailor fun nights more towards family coming to watch what your kids have learned. Last time we attended the fun night the parents got to sit in the middle of the floor and take pictures while the kids performed. The kids also got a t-shirt and a cool medal. Not sure if it'll end up being the same thing or not, but either way free stuff (well kinda free........for $65 a month I think we deserve something once and awhile, lol) for Connor = awesome!

So today Savannah is officially 6 months old. I can say at 6 months old she is definitely becoming her own little person. She still does not sleep through the night, and usually gets up twice (1ish and 4ish), and she still sleeps right next to me (so much easier, especially for breastfeeding, since I don't have to get up while 1/2 asleep to pick up a baby and potentially drop her because of my sleep deprivation). She has been "on" solids for almost 2 weeks, she has consumed avocado, cucumber, peaches and carrots. I would have to say her favorite is probably peaches then followed by cucumbers. She is starting to get little pieces off of some of the items, so in no time I know she'll be mowing food down. She is getting better at sitting by herself, "swims" on the floor, and smiles when the mood strikes her. It's so amazing how differently she is compared to Connor, and at the same time how similar they are. I really believe she will crawl way before Connor ever did (12.5 months), and therefore walk before he did (16 months). I just can't believe it's been 6 months since she was born.........crazy.......I'll stop rambling now.......

First Trip To The Zoo

So the month of April is just about 1/2 over already....can you believe it?? Why do the days and weeks go by so fast? Sometimes I want things to hurry up and get here, but then it's done and gone just as quickly as it came....is this the way life will always be from now on?? Wanting it to SLOW down?? I guess we just need to sit back and enjoy as much of it as we can!!

Talking about enjoying life, this past Sunday was BEAUTIFUL outside!! First awesome day of the year, and we took advantage and went to the zoo. We went with Matt, Chrissy, Buddy, Ella, Jim, Michelle & Donovan. While Ella slept 1/2 of the time, Savannah was wide awake and staring at her brother & cousins as the ran around to look at the animals. Connor wanted to see the turtles and Buddy liked the giraffes. It was so nice to be outside almost all weekend, but unfortunately it's back to being in the 50's, and just a little to cold to spend any significant amount of time outside. Savannah must have loved being outside as most of her life as been inside. All I know is the fresh air must have worn her out because on Sunday night she slept 7.5 hours, the longest she's ever slept!

Kid's Rooms!

So Scott has his interview today for a promotion. I really hope that he does good & is not nervous & he gets the job! We should hear within the next couple of weeks what they decide to do. He totally deserves this, he's been with the company for 9 years and he works his butt off!!!

On another note, we pretty much finished up the kids bedrooms. All we have to do is put up a shelf in Savannah's room for all of the collector barbies that I have, plus the ones that she will more than likely get down the road. AND we have to clean out Connor's bedrooms & organize all of his toys (that will definitely be a full weekend project!). Connor's room is a little crowded with the Queen bed in there, but hopefully in 3 years we'll be in a bigger house anyways!

Frustrated

So driving home from work today I was in a pretty good mood for once. I wasn't very tired, I wasn't yawning like crazy on the drive home, etc....

Connor had his first Preschool 1 swimming lessons tonight. 1/2 of the time was spent "going over rules" and then trying to get Connor in the pool. He's been in the pool by himself before, but for some reason he just didn't want to go in without mommy or daddy. I was SO mad at him for making a scene and not listening to his "teacher". Finally he went into the pool! Except, 1/2 of the time he STILL wasn't listening, and just doing what he wanted to do!! Do I have the worst 3 year old?? He NEVER seems to listen like all of the other kids! And it doesn't help that I have a really short temper plus all of the hormones are making it even worse. Am I really ready to deal with another one?? How can I make him listen? Am I a horrible mother? I just don't know...ugh I'm just so frustrated at this point, and don't know what to do!!!
