So the kids and Scott are outside playing, and I'm taking a little "quiet time", which consists of folding laundry and making this quick post. Sound like fun? Yes, and no - I'd rather be outside playing, but I know I need some quiet time, so it's relaxing. I'm also going to try to dye my hair tonight, but I'm not sure I will have time - we'll see!
This Blog is about whats going on in our lives and with our families! I am a semi-"crunchy" mom of two children, who likes to read, scrapbook, take-pictures, and currently involved in improving my life by excercise and eating right!

18 Month Check Up

18 Months Old
I'm so hungry!! Ahhh! But I REFUSE to eat this late at night! So I'll just have to sit here and ignore my rumbling stomach. I could go to bed, but what fun would that be? Then I wouldn't be able to post several posts tonight (this being #3, and this will either be my last or second to last for the night, we'll see!)
So almost 2 weeks ago, June 1st, Miss. Savannah turned 18 months old. Where did the time go? She is finally starting to say a few words here and there (but only when she wants to, if you ask her to, she wont do it). She's also learned how to climb on everything (more so than before, if that's even possible!) and nothing is out of reach to her. If she can't reach it, she'll figure out a way to move something to get what she wants. She is just the funniest little person, who just has way to much personality for her size, which is exactly why I call her Tink (Tinkerbell - little with attitude). Also to note, I finally upgraded her to size 18 month clothing! Thank you Katie for providing us with so many cute Lily clothes! I love this little "naughty" girl and can't imagine my life without her. Friday, June 1, 2012
Quicker Chicken 'n Dumplings
Well happy 18 month birthday Miss. Savannah! Can't believe it's been 18 months since you were born! It's amazing how quickly you grow and how much of your own person you are. She is so stubborn at times, so independent at times and yet way more cuddly than Connor was at this age. It's amazing how different siblings can really be.
So awhile back I tried another recipe out of my Taste of Home Simple & Delicious Cookbook - pg. 30, called Quicker Chicken 'n Dumplings. I love chicken and dumplings and really wanted to try this out. Ingredients: chicken broth, celery, carrots, bay leaf (didn't use one), dried parsley, biscuit mix, dried thyme, nutmeg, milk, & cooked cubed chicken. The recipe turned out really yummy, however I did not have to cook it nearly as long as the recipe calls for. Not sure why but I ran out of broth way before it was time but thankfully everything was cooked and ready to eat. I will definitely be making this again in the future though!

She Can Walk
Just finished making a TuTu. The Lilac TuTu. 1/3 Green, 2/3 Purple. I'll try to have pictures posted tomorrow on FB, expect to see it in the Etsy store sometime next week probably. It's super cute, and I love the colors. It could also be named Tinkerbell, because that's what it reminds me of!
So I'm skipping a list of posts I have written down that I need to get to because I've been waiting a long time to post this, Savannah can walk! YAY! I'm so proud of my little peanut girl! At 14.3 months old, she's 1.7 months ahead of Connor as he walked 2 days before 16 months old. It's so funny, she is so much littler than Connor was at this age, so she definitely doesn't look like she should be walking yet. She started yesterday at Grandma's, so I told Scott he had to go home and charge the battery in
the camcorder (I had my exercise class with Chrissy last night) so I could record her when I got home. I got home and she's wearing old Connor PJ's, lol. I made Scott change her into "girl" PJ's, because "we're recording this, and she doesn't need to know we use to put her in boy clothes", lol. Love my logic, right? Anyways, got it on video, and I can't believe I can finally say my baby can walk! She's getting too big!

Big Girl Car Seat
So we're beginning to look like hoarders around my house, so we really need to start getting rid of some stuff. I started off putting Connor/Savannah's car seat on craigslist, but haven't had any responses yet to it. I also put Connor's High Chair on craigslist and I'm meeting someone at East Towne today who is going to buy it for $50! It cost $100+ I think brand new, so they're getting a good discount for getting it used and it's still in great condition! I'm also going to start bringing books to 1/2 priced books and getting rid of some of them, even though it kind of breaks my heart to do it.
So on Tuesday Savannah got to finally be in her new pink big girl car seat. At her 1 year check up she was officially at the limit for length for the baby carrier so we knew we had to switch her pretty soon. She actually sat in a big girl car seat on the way to Michigan last weekend, but that was Connor's old Eddie Bauer car seat. I think she liked being in her new seat, but it's kind of a
pain every morning now because I have to take her out and put her in several times when dropping Connor off and picking him up. Side note: she is still backwards, and we've decided to keep her that way until at least 2 if not 3 years old.

1 Year Check Up
Getting ready for Round Robin to start and I have a few moments so I figured I'd do my daily post now because I might forget later in the day. I made zucchini cookies, muffins & bread last night for our house. The fun all begins in 23 minutes at the Frank's house, then our house is at noon. Then Joe's, Cassie's, Kim & JR, Carol's, Paul & Gingers, Gary's, then GG's to finish up the night! Should be a lot of fun like always!
So Monday was Miss. Savannah's 1 year check up. And she's perfect, of course! Weighing in at 18lbs3oz and 29 inches long she is officially at the length limit for her baby carrier car seat so we will be switching to a big girl car seat shortly, rear facing still of course! This month has been another one of those months that seems like she's learned so much! She learned how to shake her head no, wave bye-bye, climb up the stairs, and cruise around furniture. She's still waking up at least one time every
night and she still sleeps every night cuddled up next to me. I can officially now say she never had 1 drop of formula also! Something I'm incredibly proud of. It's been very difficult but well worth it!! I'm not sure how the weaning process from breastfeeding will work but I'm not going to worry about it right now since we're in the middle of the cold & flu season. I think I've decided I want to be done by around 18 months or so, so we'll probably begin working on that in the spring.

11 Months Old
So I really need to get the house cleaned and get to the grocery store, because I'm having my Pampered Chef Part tomorrow at noon! AHH To much to do! And I really don't feel like doing anything either, I just want to go out and hang with friends, but friends are far and few these days.......Justin/Jessica did text me earlier about going to dinner at Ella's Deli. Maybe I should go.....
So this past Tuesday, Miss. Savannah turned 11 months old. That means there is less than a month until her 1st Birthday! Can you believe it? It's so crazy to think about! Currently she is approximately 18.75 pounds, so I doubt she'll hit the 20 pound mark before her 1st Birthday. She still gets up anywhere
from 1-5 times every night, but I'm starting the no-cry sleep solution, so hopefully we can get her to sleep better. She got her 6th tooth at the very beginning of this month. She's been drooling like crazy again, but I don't see anymore teeth coming in. We did switch her to 12 month clothing, more for lack of 9 month clothes, not size. Other than that, it was a pretty quiet month, no huge milestones to report it would seem.

Happy Halloween
So we're trying a new schedule with Savannah, instead of putting her to bed at 9:30ish, we're shooting for 8. Last night it was 7:45 when she fell asleep, and so far it doesn't seem to help. she woke up about 5 times before it was 7:30 (when I wake her up in the morning). Going to continue to try it at least a couple of more times before I consider it a failure.
So Monday was Halloween, I hope everyone had a good day! Scott had the day off of work, so he got to play w
ith the kids all day (well after Connor was done with school), but I had to work like normal. This being Savannah's 1st Halloween, I had to make sure she looked super cute. I got an outfit after last Halloween, I think at Walmart on clearance. But I had to accessorize it to make it perfect. So I went online to My Little Legs and ordered her some leggings & a 5 pack of headbands. I think the outfit came together nicely and Miss. Savannah was as cute as ever!

Bye 9-12, Hello 12-18
So today is Halloween! YAY! I love Halloween! I think it's a great Holiday for the kids to just have fun and get a lot of free candy! Unfortunately it's not nearly as fun as it was when I was a kid. There are time limits....WTF! It's like 5-7 or something ridiculous like that! When I was younger you didn't go out until like 6, and didn't come home until 9ish or even later! It was a lot of fun just walking for hours with your friends and parents. Oh well, I guess times change, I just hope the kids have as much fun as I did when I was younger!
So yesterday we retired the 9-12 month clothing for Savannah and busted out the 12-18 month clothing. she really didn't need to switch because of her size, the 9-12 month still fit good (except for some of the pants were a little short). The main reason we switched is
because she just didn't have a lot of clothes in the 9-12 month size. She wore all of the clothes 2 or 3 times, which is pretty good for kids since they tend to grow so fast! Now it's onto 12-18 month clothing, which she has a TON of because of us buying them for her birthday/Christmas, and all of Lily's old clothes that Katie gave us, plus I know she'll be getting more clothing for her birthday & Christmas, so she'll definitely be set for awhile!

Bye Bye Bottle
So today was a good day. Got to spend time with family & friends, couldn't ask for much better. Went on a Kohl's run. Got a pair of shorts, capris & a tank top for myself, got Connor 2 t-shirts and a pair of shorts, got Scott a t-shirt & a pair of shorts and something for him for Christmas, all for under $34! Everything was 80% plus I used my 30% coupon! Now that's the way to shop! Gotta love Kohl's!!
So yesterday Savannah had her last bottle, say bye to the bottle! Not that it's really going to be an issue for her, she only has a bottle Monday-Friday, and only one of them. She'll now be using her super cute sippy cup that we got her. I actually have not take any pictures of Savannah with a bottle si
nce she's been born, but that's probably because I've never given her a bottle. So I had to make sure to tell Scott to take a picture or two of her with it, so here it is. The only picture I have of Savannah drinking a bottle, and it's her last one.

10 Months Old
Brewers just won the first game of the play offs and now we're hoping the Cardinals do the same! Wouldn't that be awesome for the Cardinals and the Brewers to face off in the play offs? If they do, Scott & I already decided we have to figure out a way to go and see one of the games! It'll be hard though for the Cardinals to beat the Phillie's, but right now they're winning 3-0! (but it's only the first inning....so there is lots of game left to play)
So today Miss. Savannah is 10 months old! And what a month we've had! First off, she's had a nasty cold almost all month, boo! She has also gone from 1 tooth to 5 teeth in a matter of 2 weeks! So it's been a pretty miserable month. However, she has learned many new things this month! She learned how to pull herself up, she learned to sit up from laying down and she also learned how to crawl!! Connor didn't crawl until 12.5 months, so this is awesome! She's so tiny so she looks even cuter when she crawls! She isn't very fast yet, that'll take a little time, but she can definitely get around. We just bought 2 new baby gates (one for the stairs and one for Connor's room), and I'm in the process of "baby proofing" the rest of the house! Her
favorite "new" foods of the month were probably ice cream & salmon. Hoping this next month isn't quit as eventful, cause we could all use a break! Only 2 months until her first birthday, and all the decorations have been ordered!

Goodbye 6-9, Hello 9-12
So Scott's mid-term was due last night, which he got done by about 8 o'clock! Hopefully he did good on it, I checked it for him and I think he'll get at least a B on it, but who knows for sure. Now I have a huge Marketing assignment due tonight, which now I have 29% of part 1 done, so only 71% left of part 1 and all of part 2 to do..........ugh! It might be a long night....... guess I wont get a chance to watch my Thursday night shows tonight.
So yesterday I decided it was time to pack away all of Savannah's 6-9 month clothing,
and bring out all the 9-12 month clothing. A lot of brands don't actually have 9 month clothing, so we're pretty limited, but it should be enough to get us by until her 1st birthday. She probably could have stayed in 6 month clothing a little longer, but we really didn't have many warm clothes for her to wear and with the temperatures staying in the 60's and even down in the 50's, it was time to bust out some warmer clothes!

She's My Little Peanut
It's Thursday night. Connor's 1st full week of school is almost complete. Every day it seems to be worse dropping him off, but supposedly he does fine after I leave. He almost made it the whole day today without asking "when is it time to go home", his teacher said he almost made it and asked in a funny way. Connor:Are you ready? Teacher:Am I ready for what? Connor: Are you ready to tell me it's time to go inside and then it's time to go home? LOL!
So Monday night was Savannah's 9 month check up. And she's still my little peanut! At her 6 month check up she was 14.5 lbs and 27 inches, and 3 months later she comes in at 17lbs (15.17%) and 27.5 inches (42.89%). To compare my children,
Connor at his 9 month check up was 20lbs and 29 inches. - it should be interesting to see if Savannah continues on this growth chart or if she shoots up soon. Her 1 year appointment is schedule for December 5th.

Off To School He Goes
So I'm happy to report Savannah had a new "1st" tonight! She pulled up to standing all by herself at Grandmas house - twice! Chrissy was a witness to this, so I'm not crazy, even if she doesn't do it again for awhile, we know she can! It's just a matter of time now before we have another "1st" - crawling! She's so ridiculously close it really could happen any day now, but if she's like her brother it'll still be awhile.....only time will tell!
So Connor had his 1st day of school today! Exciting and sad at the same time! Exciting that my little boy is going to be learning and making new friends, but sad that he's growing up way to fast! Scott & I both had the day off to celebrate the occasion. We made him breakfast, got him dressed and out the door we went. He's going to school at Play Haven, which is one of the day cares in the area, and he goes from 8:15-10:50. The bus was just getting there when we got there, so we waited for all of those kids to go inside, then we went inside and walked him downstairs to the 4k hallway. He has his own cubby where he put his backpack then we went into his room where all the kids wash their hands first. After that we looked around a little bit, had him find his picture on the wall and "check" in (putting his picture in the "whose at school today" column on the wall). Then we gave him a hug and we left. There were a few tears in his eyes and ours as well but we tried not to show them but other than that he did amazing. I was expecting him to throw a fit and refuse to let us leave, but that didn't happen. While he was at school Scott & I went and I donated blood then we went to pick him up. I'm happy to
report that Connor was a good helper (do I see a brown nosier in the future??) and he did really well, about 5-10 minutes before it was time to leave he did go up to his teacher and hugged her legs and said I'm ready for my mommy now. So a good first day. I really hope he enjoys school and makes lots of friends - he has no choice, he's going to college! He's not going to still be in college when he's 50 (which will more than likely happen with me, lol)

3/4 of a Year
So it's already September, crazy, right? After work I ran out to Jessica & Justin's house and picked a bunch of tomatoes & jalapenos. After that I went home, ate quickly then we headed out to pick up their farm share since they aren't in town to get it themselves. We got some red kale, beans, broccoli, tomatoes, jalapenos, green peppers, garlic, a squash & 2 chickens. Unfortunately 2 tomatoes didn't make it since Scott put the broccoli on top of them so the got smushed.........grrr! Now I'm up to 53 pounds of tomatoes in the freezer and .75 pounds of hot peppers (habanaros, jalapenos and some other kind of peppers mixed)!
So Miss. Savannah is 9 months old today, can you believe it? I can't! The last month has been fun. She learned to clap within the last week, she does this popping sound with her mouth now, she got her 1st tooth about 2.5 weeks ago and loves playing with it with her tongue. She also got stung by her first bee up at Devils Lake and she tried a bunch of new food that she loved: black olives, fish,
chicken & Gerber Puffs. She is also so close to crawling (when she does it'll be from a sitting position not from laying on her stomach), but even though she can't she sure can get into things! For about a week this month she was only get up once at night, but this week has been horrible (3-4 times a night), I read online that there is a thing as a 9 month sleep regression....so I'm pretty sure that is what we're dealing with right now.............ugh!

8 Months Old
Monday is almost about done, thank goodness. The new girl at work (whose in charge of the billing) called in today...on the last day to finish up July business...........which means me & my boss were running around like crazy trying to get her job done plus ours........it was not fun, but we did it. Hopefully tomorrow at work is less eventfull and less stressful!
Today Savannah is 8 months old today. 2/3 of a year old, only 4 months until her birthday. Can you believe how fast the last 8 months have gone by?? Well, at 8 months old, Savannah is around 16 pounds and over 28 inches long, she doesn't have a Dr. apt until mid-September, so these are just estimates. She can feed herself small pieces of food (cheerios, 1/2 blueberries, etc - has been doing this for a month, but is getting better every day), can sit and lunge forward towards toys (almost got on her belly from a sitting position tonight). She can go in circles while laying on her belly
and I'm guessing she will probably figure out how to crawl soon. She tried so hard tonight laying on her belly she got her feet on the ground and pushed her butt in the air. She is my little princess but she really needs to start sleeping better! She still gets up on average 2 times every night, which is exhausting........excited for the next month to see how much more changes in the next few weeks!

Spaghetti & Meatballs
Just got back from Aunt Missy's for dinner. We had some pizza, cheese bread & some wings. Yum! Called it an early night. Connor kept asking to go home, which is unusual....he fell asleep in the car.......guess he was tired, lol. Going to call it a night pretty soon here, gotta work in the morning (Scott's lucky he took the day off)
So last week we made Spaghetti & Meatballs for dinner, and so we decided to stick to the true meaning of Baby Led Weaning (when appropriate...obviously if we were having stuff with nuts, Savannah cant have that) and serve her what we were eating. She loved it! We gave her exactly what we had, the only difference is we put hers in
the freezer for about 2 minutes to cool the meatball down so she wouldn't burn herself. We made sure to get her naked beforehand cause we knew it was going to be messy and it was! She went straight into the bath tub afterwards!

7 Months Old
So I'm starting to get a little mad at Scott. He supposedly wanted to watch a movie tonight, but he's over drinking at the neighbors house.......I text him 45 minutes ago, and he said he would be home soon........I waited 30 more minutes........then another 15 minutes.........come on already! Both kids are passed out, so I don't want to go outside and get him (nervous freak I am), he better not be getting drunk..........Mike can be a bad influence on Scott!
So today marks the day Savannah has been in this world for 7 months. Can you believe it? I can't. This past week she's learned a lot of new things it seems. She has mastered sitting (before she would only do it once and awhile, and for some reason or another only usually outside), and she has also mastered getting cheerios in her mouth (which I guess is a 10 month milestone). My baby is growing up so fast! Thankfully she hasn't started crawling yet
. Connor was 12.5 months before he was crawling, so she can wait till closer till then. Connor also got his first tooth at 7.5 months old, so I'm assuming we should be seeing one in Savannah's mouth anytime (well maybe, I guess every kid is different).

Swingin'
So I really should start getting ready for the day...........but I feel like being lazy right now, lol. After we do the strawberries & Jam, then we have a graduation party to go to, and then we are going to the Great Dane tonight for dinner to celebrate my birthday a night early, yummy, can't wait!
So after swimming in the pond, using the paddle boat, and then swimming a little bit in the pool we went over to the park. I have never put Savannah in a swing, and unless Jim & Pat have and I don't know about it, this was Savannah's first time in a swing. I got her giggling like crazy in the
swing, I think she loved it! I can't wait until we get a swim set in our own backyard so I can take her on it more often (we got Connor one for his birthday that we are going to set up next Saturday, but shhhhhhhh he doesn't know!)

Breakfast
So tonight I finished Day 25 of the 30 Day Shred.....only 5 more days to go! I should probably be doing Level 3 by now, but I'm not. I've done level 2 a couple of times, but pretty much have stuck with Level 1 since. It's a good work out without making me feel like I'm going to die....... I'll be finishing with it on Saturday, then taking June 26th-July 4th off, then starting all over again. I'll probably stick to Level 2 most of the time this round.
So Saturday was the first day Savannah got 2 meals during the day. For dinner she is currently on Bananas & Asparagus, so to mix things up for her we gave her Avocado spread on bread and Cheerios. I know she
really can't pick up the Cheerios yet, but I figured this would help her work on her dexterity and eventually she'll be able to get them in her mouth. She still isn't swallowing a lot, but I know she got a little at least, there were a couple of times I saw the bread go in without it getting spit back out.
