The Hunger Games

What a good weekend. Good time with friends, old and new, and a great time with the kids today. So very thankful that the kids finally cooperated (after awhile) and we all took a nice nap this afternoon. Now I'm starting to make dinner and the kids are watching Monsters Inc.

So last weekend I finally had the chance to watch The Hunger Games movie. I loved the books and was really hoping I wouldn't be disappointed with the movie. I got it from The RedBox for free (gotta love finding coupon codes online) and watched it with a friend. Although there were obvious changes made from the book to the movie I believe they did a great job with it (unlike Water for Elephants - that was just to many changes, which ticks me off).  Now I can't wait to see the second one (just starting to record it if I remember correctly).

That's What I Am

Not much to report on the home front. Just getting use to the new schedule of everything - it's weird having so much time to myself. Most of the times I don't know what I should be doing. I know I should be cleaning the house more and probably working on homework but honestly I don't feel like doing it. Last night I watched a movie I haven't seen before and then talked to a friend on skype.

So a few weeks ago we picked up from the library That's What I Am. The main reason we picked it up was because of Randy Orton being in it (WWE wrestler that Connor really likes - and I think he's pretty nice to look :) ). I didn't really know what to expect from the movie but I really enjoyed it and recommend it to everyone. It's a great story about sticking up for yourself and others, even in the case when people believe something completely not true about you. I know most people probably haven't heard of this movie, but it's worth checking out.

28 Day Bootcamp

Tuesday morning here. Not much to report. Worked out last night, started reading a new book for book club and had dinner at the in-laws. That pretty much sums up our Monday night. So far Tuesday is going pretty smoothly both kids seem to be in good moods, so hopefully that will continue. Both kids are running around playing while I drink my morning coffee and check a few things on the computer.

So recently I checked out from the Library Sparkpeoples: 28 Day Bootcamp. Unfortunately I only got to check it out for a week so I only used the video 4 times. The whole DVD is an 84 minute workout (way to long for me, since there's always so much going on) but it is neatly broken into smaller segments. The first night I did one of the 20 minute sections, then the second night I did a slightly longer section and the 3rd and 4th I started from the top and did the warm up and the first 2 - 12 minute sections. All are really great workouts but I think I sweat more by starting at the beginning and doing those first sections. Either way, whichever combination you decide to do you'll get your heart rate going. The biggest criticism I have is that they seem to go really fast doing the exercises. Sometimes it took me awhile to really figure out what they were doing. I wish they would have slowed some of those down so I didn't feel like I was moving at hyper speed. Overall, I would say this is more of an intermediate DVD (b/c of the speed) but it is one that I will check out from the library again.

Water for Elephants - Movie

So I need to officially get into lose weight mode for Meagan's wedding, which is only around 70 days away (I counted the actual number of days yesterday but I don't remember, lol). I worked out last night using the 28 Day Boot camp Spark People DVD (picked it up from the library). It has a total of 84 minutes on it but it's broken into different categories, so I just did one of the 20 minutes last night since its been about 5 weeks since I've worked out. After weighing myself this morning I would LOVE to lose 13.6 pounds before Meagan's wedding. Not sure if that's possible or not, but I'll give it a go!

So for book club this past month we read Water for Elephants. Scott "read" it along with me and afterwards we decided to pick up the movie from the library and watch it. Okay. Initially after watching the movie I did not like. I thought about it later and realized it wasn't as bad as I originally thought. The movie was good but there were so many big changes from the book that it initially through me off and I was a little pissed off about it. They combine characters and completely leave some out all together. So my advice: either watch it way after you finish the book or before you even read it. If you watch it right after you read it like I did your initial reaction might be you don't like it.

Couple's Retreat

Back to another Monday. I am officially 1/2 way done with my Accounting 1 class this summer, and I've still got over a 100%. Not sure how long that is going to last, I have another test coming up this Thursday that I'm not nearly as confident as the last two. At least I have some time to try and figure a couple of the things out.

A couple of week's ago Scott & I sat down and watched Couple's Retreat. It's a few years old but we never had a chance to watch it until now. Not that I was missing anything without watching it. The movie was okay and there were parts that I laughed at but it's nothing that I would have to sit down and watch again. If it's on TV sometime and there is nothing else to watch I'd probably watch it but it is not a movie I will go out of my way to watch again.

Hall Pass

So how was every one's Memorial Day Weekend? Ours was pretty good I guess, can't complain to much. However, I do have to take a second and say to a family friend Betty that we are thinking of you and if you need anything let us know (if you know Betty make sure you send her a note, or card or something, her dad passed away this weekend).

A few weeks ago we finally got around to watching the movie Hall Pass. I know it's been out for awhile but we never got around to seeing it. Okay, so the movie was pretty funny and I will say I didn't hate the movie, however some of the humor was a little more crude than I like and this is a movie you definitely need to wait until the kids are sleeping to watch. Not entirely sure I'll ever have a need to watch it again but like I said before I didn't hate it and I did laugh at parts.

The Girl With The Dragoon Tattoo

Purchased some fun stuff for the garden today, yay! Can't wait to get it all planted. Should probably be able to do it this Thursday because Scott & I have off work to celebrate our anniversary. Can't believe it has already been 4 years since we've gotten married, time sure flies by!

So Easter weekend I made my first "purchase" at the local RedBox - I say purchase I actually goggled a coupon code and received the movie free. I really wanted to go see The Girl With The Dragoon Tattoo in theaters because I had just finished reading the book around the time that the movie came out - I just never got around to it though. Although the movie didn't follow the book exactly (what one does?) I really enjoyed it. Scott really didn't know what to expect with the movie (never read the book) but he really enjoyed it too. He enjoyed it enough that he is now on the wait list to get the book on CD version of it so he can compare. Now I'm going to start reading the second book and can't wait until the second movie is made!

What Happens In Vegas

Got the lawn mowed tonight, not with our mower - ours still isn't working - thankfully the Moore's let us pick up theirs and use it tonight. OMG, it looks so much better - our weeds are getting out of control! Now we just need to apply the weed killer, but it says it needs 24 hours before rain (and it's suppose to rain the next couple of days) and also you're not suppose to do it 2 days before or after you mow the lawn - so maybe this weekend?? Not sure how the extended forecast looks.

So a few weeks ago we watched the movie What Happens In Vegas. I know this movie has been around for a few years but I had never seen it. I like Ashton & Cameron and I really enjoyed this movie. Don't get me wrong, I know there wasn't any fabulous acting in this movie and the plot wasn't extensive - but sometimes its just nice to watch a funny laid back movie that you don't have to think a lot about. I would probably watch this movie again but it's not something I would actively pursue - if its on and I'm flipping channels and see it I'll probably stop and watch it.

Tangled

Easter is tomorrow, are you ready? Will the Easter Bunny be coming to your house? I know he will be coming to mine! I'm currently baking 3 pumpkin pies for tomorrow - I needed to use the pumpkin puree that was in my freezer before it got bad! I also made some peanut butter cookies and as long as I don't end up eating them all I'll be sharing those tomorrow too.

So last night we sat down and all watched Disney's Tangled. We got this for Savannah for Christmas (I believe, but maybe it was her birthday) and I've been wanting to watch it for awhile. It was just as good as I thought it would be. Super cute and fun for the entire family to watch. Even though it's more of a "girl" movie Connor really enjoyed it - this was my first time seeing the movie but I know he's seen it a time or two before. Definitely will be watching this one again! If you haven't seen it yet, I totally recommend it!

The Help

So I'm suppose to be doing homework right now - which involves reading 3 textbook chapters, doing an article, studying & taking a test......... yuck! So instead I'm taking a little break, catching up on some Facebook and decided to make another post! Much better, hehe!

So 2 weeks ago I went over to the Moore's house to watch The Help. I had read the book when it first came out awhile back, but now Chrissy finished reading the book and we both really wanted to watch the movie. I have to say I loved the movie however it wasn't as emotionally draining as someone told me - however I think that is because I had read the book and knew what to expect. There was obvious things left out from the book, they couldn't have added everything, but I think most of the main parts were there. There were a few things that were completely different from the book but I think they do that in almost every book to movie combo. I really need to sit down and watch it again though because Scott was trying to watch 4 kids under 5, which didn't go 100% smoothly so there were many breaks and it did take us about 4 hours to watch the movie, lol. Maybe I'll put it on my birthday list and someone can buy it for me!

Bedtime Stories

Friday, YAY! Are you excited? I am. My shoulders and back are sore from my workout yesterday so I could use a little down time. Plus I've been bad about getting to bed early this week and it's definitely taking a tole on me, I'm tired!

Last Friday we watched Bedtime Stories featuring Adam Sandler. I know the movie is a few years old but it's the first time we watched it. Scott & I both really enjoyed the story but unfortunately I think it was a little to "old" for Connor and had a hard time sitting and watching it. BUT unless it's a favorite cartoon or wrestling he'll have a hard time watching it, lol. I'm guessing if he was a couple of years older he would have enjoyed it a lot more, oh well. If you haven't seen it I recommend it.

Kung Fu Panda 2

So I'm super excited to announce that a photographer has contacted me and we will be trading goods! I'm going to send her a TuTu, and she's going to take some cute photos that I can use in the ETSY store & on FB! I'm so excited! Also, Miss. Savannah's TuTu's has reached over 100 fans so I'm doing a giveaway for a FREE TuTu! Go check it out HERE.

So last Friday night I finally got to watch Kung Fun Panda 2. I loved the first one so I was super excited to see this. This movie had a lot different feel to it than the first. The first one was all about the good guys with glimpses of the bad guys but the second one was a lot more about the bad guys. The movie as a whole had a lot darker of a feeling to it because of this but I still loved it and am glad I saw it. Will there be a 3rd one? I haven't heard anything but it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Only a little over 2 more days until we're heading to Michigan, so excited! Connor's already made the trip over once when he was just over 2, but this will be Miss. Savannah's 1st trip, hopefully she does good! We'll obviously have to stop a few times but I'm hoping everything goes smoothly. Connor will be busy watching movies, reading his new ereader and coloring, but poor Savannah is to young to do all of that, plus she's still backwards so she can't watch the movie either (not that I want her really watching TV yet). Anyone have any tips in driving 5-6 hours with a 13 month old?

So on New Years Eve I finally got to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. I've been waiting and waiting to watch this movie and I finally receive it for Christmas. Normally I would have watched it right away but Connor has been boycotting my movies and unless I wanted to be interrupted all the time I just kind of had to wait until he agreed to let me watch it. I know, I know, letting a 4 year old run the house? Sometimes you just have to pick your battles and this is one that I let him win. It didn't endanger anyone to wait to see it, so why fight about it? And no, it's not like he really watched this movie, it's a little to much for a 4 year old, he was pleasantly distracted with his new toys, but most of the time we have "kid" stuff on the TV, even if he's not really watching TV he knows when "his" shows are on and always wants his on, gotta love 4 year olds, right? Stubborn! Anyways, I loved the movie, of course. I really missed Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly in it but it still was really good. I do have a complaint about Penelope Cruse though, as beautiful as she is, sometimes she's really difficult to understand and this is a type of movie I don't want to sit there and strain to try and understand what she's saying. But overall I loved it and if you love the other Pirates movies you'll love it too!

The Hangover - Part 2

Can you believe Christmas is only 6 days away? I can't! Still lots to do this week! I finished up reading my Marketing Textbook last night, now I have to read 3 more chapters in my Employment Law Textbook and complete the final exam. Technically I have until Thursday night to complete it but I'll have to finish it Wednesday night so I have Thursday to return the book - it was a rental so it has to be returned by the last day of the semester.

So Friday night we finally got to watch The Hangover - Part 2. Scott LOVED the 1st one so he was super excited to finally see the 2nd one. While it was definitely like the first one, it was outrageously hilarious and disturbing all at the same time. If you like crude humor and can tolerate a lot of F bombs and you loved the 1st one, then i definitely recommend you seeing this one too. Even though we just watched it I guarantee Scott will find some excuse to watch it again in the next several weeks.

Happy Feet

So we went out tonight for a pre-celebration for Chrissy's Birthday, Pedros, yumm! Of course I ended up eating way to much like always, but it tasted so good! I really wanted to get a Margarita but didn't because of Miss. Savannah, and plus I had to drive the kids home because Scott is going out with them to the bars. IAdd Image really really really hope he doesn't come home drunk.

So yesterday for our "camp-out" we watched Happy Feet. I know the movie is 5ish years old but I had never seen it before. The second one is in theaters right now and I kind of wanted to take Connor to it so I figured we should probably see the first one. It was so cute and super good. Maybe it's my inner band/choir geekness, but I loved all the singing and dancing and plus penguins are always good. The story line is always a good one to talk to kids about, basically: be true to yourself and be who you are no matter what. If you haven't seen it already it's worth checking out, I'm going to hopefully take Connor to the 2nd one next weekend.

Frenemy

Sitting around with Jessica and Justin waiting for our Spaghetti Sauce to be complete. Scott took Connor to the bowling ally and I just got Savannah to sleep, so we're just watching Justin play his XBox. I know Walmart has a really good Black Friday deal for them, so maybe we'll get one....it would be fun, but I don't think I want to spend that kind of money on a video game considering we rarely play our Wii.

So another Friday night and we watched another movie we picked up from the Library. This time we picked up the movie Frenemy. I had never heard of the movie but we saw that Zach was in it, so we figured we'd try it out. Have any of you ever seen it? Well I advise you to never get it. It was by far the worst movie I've ever seen. The plot didn't make sense, they talked a lot about drugs and murder and it was disgusting. Don't get me wrong, I love a good slasher movie once and awhile, but this was just so bad it was disturbing and just plain wrong. Never ever be tempted to pick up this movie it'll just be a waste of 80 minutes of your life! Also, I'm still confused as to why Zach is on the cover of this movie because he's barley in this movie.

Up In The Air

The weekend is almost over with, AHH, they go by way to fast. Started handing out Savannah's birthday invites today, can you believe she's almost a year old? I can't! Time goes by way to fast, it almost makes me want another baby, almost, lol, maybe when she sleeps better & we don't have to buy her diapers, then maybe.

So another Friday night we spent watching a movie and eating popcorn, a movie we picked up from the Library. This time we picked Up In The Air with George Clooney in it. I knew it was up for a bunch of awards a year or two ago, so I figured it would be pretty good. I enjoyed the movie and I think everyone should see it once. The only part I didn't like was the ending. I didn't like how the chick ended up having another family and he was just a "side" item. But I guess you can't have movies end the way you want them to every time. I'm glad I saw the movie, not sure I'll ever see it again, but it's definitely worth seeing once.

Due Date

So today we had a Halloween Party at GG's house (Scott's grandma, or Connor's Great Grandma - where the name came from!). It was pretty fun. Connor got lots of Candy and we got to play a game and make a cute little magnet to hang on the fridge. We also got to eat lots of yummy food and just hang out with the family. Overall a good time.

So last night we stayed up and watched Due Date. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but I knew it would be more "guy" funny than anything, and I was right. It was outrageously over the top but definitely funny. I was laughing most of the time. I can see why Scott really enjoyed the movie because it kind of reminded him of The Hangover. We actually rented the movie from the library, but I wouldn't doubt that we'll eventually buy the movie for Scott to watch more often.

Rio

So Jessica should be here pretty soon to start working on our Habanaro Jelly (will post more on that later)! We just finished up cleaning up from breakfast and Scott cleaned up the living room from when the girls were over here yesterday. Now Scott & Connor are trying to figure out what movie to watch..........probably some dumb boy movie, lol!

So after Ella's Birthday party yesterday Scott started bowling for John (while he recovers from his surgery that he'll have on Monday)so we all went to watch. While there, John & Carol gave us the movie Rio. So of course we had to watch it right away when we got home last night, but it was a little late so we didn't end up finishing it. So first thing this morning Connor had to watch it. It's really a super cute movie, and I had actually put it on Connor's Christmas List for this year (I'll have to cross that off!). I think any little kid would enjoy watching this and any adult who enjoys a good kids movie every once and awhile.

Someone's 4

Sitting here cuddling with my baby girl, thinking about that I do not want to go to work tomorrow......it's "end of month", so we have to finish all June business, so it's going to be crazy....it doesn't help that we have a new girl who just recently started doing the invoicing, so I have to do a bunch of it just so we don't sink.........at least it keeps me busy I guess.

So 4 years ago today at 10:13 a.m., 6lbs12oz 18 inch Connor came into this world. Has it really been 4 years already? Time has just been flying by. It seems like just yesterday he was born, or started talking, walking.......and now he's a big boy! He starts school is just over 2 more months! I woke up this morning hearing Connor asking if he could open his presents, so I rolled out of bed, got my cup of coffee and watched him open them. We gave him 5 new shirts, the elephant to his birthday train, and The Lion King & The Lion King 2. No we didn't' get him any toys, am I a bad mommy? I figured the swing set that he'll get on Sunday is plenty of fun, that he'll get over the fact we didn't get him toys. Plus I don't think he's complaining. He's already watched the Lion King twice, and now we're watching the 2nd one.
